Mike has spent his life around plants.
Not just working with them, but understanding them. How they grow, how they change through the seasons, and how they quietly shape the feeling of a place.
He was formerly Head Gardener at The Lost Gardens of Heligan, one of the most celebrated gardens in the country. It’s where he developed a deep respect for working with nature, rather than trying to control it.
Mike doesn’t believe in forcing a garden into something it isn’t.
He believes in understanding what’s already there, the soil, the light, the conditions, and then helping it become the very best version of itself.
His work is calm, considered, and always rooted in the natural rhythm of the garden.
Having spent years working in Cornwall, Mike has a deep understanding of what thrives here and what doesn’t.
The coastal winds, the changing light, the unique conditions each garden presents.
This local knowledge is what allows him to create gardens that don’t just look good for a moment, but continue to flourish year after year.
Outside of work, Mike is happiest doing what he’s always done, being in the garden.
He’s married to Nicola, and together they share a love for the outdoors and the quieter pace of life here in Cornwall.
Those who work with Mike often say the same thing.
He brings a sense of calm.
If you spend time in the garden with Michael, you’ll quickly realise, this isn’t just what he does. It’s who he is.
